Olajengbesi Pledges Extra ₦100,000 to Beneficiaries of Wole Oke's Ijebu Jesa Empowerment Programme

Imole Campaign Council spokesperson Pelumi Olajengbesi has weighed in on a women's empowerment programme launched Thursday morning by Hon. Wole Oke in Ijebu Jesa, under which 2,000 women are set to receive ₦50,000 each, pledging to personally give an additional ₦100,000 to every beneficiary of the scheme.

In a statement, Olajengbesi acknowledged the programme and commended what he called any genuine effort aimed at supporting the people of Ijebu Jesa. However, he questioned the circumstances surrounding it, suggesting that a similar programme organised by Accord would likely have drawn police intervention and arrests over allegations of vote buying.

Addressing residents of Ijebu Jesa directly, Olajengbesi noted that Oke has represented the constituency for 24 years, and argued that while other House of Representatives members across Osun State had implemented constituency empowerment programmes funded through government allocations over the past four years, Oke had not done the same until now. He urged residents to collect the ₦50,000 being offered but to vote for Governor Ademola Adeleke on election day, whom he described as "the people's candidate."

Olajengbesi went further, asking a volunteer to compile the names of beneficiaries of Oke's programme, stating that he would personally support each of them with an additional ₦100,000 as part of what he called his personal humanitarian outreach to women in Ijebu Jesa. He said the gesture was unconditional and not tied to politics, voting, or any electoral activity, adding that beneficiaries remained free to exercise their constitutional right to vote according to their own conscience.
