EDITORIAL: A PVC Is More Than a Card—It Is the Power to Shape Osun's Future.
As the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) commences the distribution of Permanent Voter Cards (PVCs) across Osun State today, every eligible voter is presented with a defining civic responsibility. The days ahead are not merely about collecting a plastic card; they are about preserving the fundamental democratic right to determine the future of our state through the ballot.
Every election is ultimately decided by those who participate. A citizen without a PVC is a citizen whose voice cannot be counted on election day. Regardless of political affiliation, no eligible voter should surrender that constitutional right through neglect or delay.
For supporters of Governor Ademola Adeleke, this PVC represents the instrument through which continued support can be expressed at the ballot box. If the achievements, policies and direction of the current administration have earned your confidence, the first and most important step toward seeking another mandate is to ensure that your PVC is collected before the deadline. Campaigns inspire, rallies mobilise, but only a valid PVC empowers a citizen to vote.
AccordWatch therefore calls on every eligible voter across the thirty local government areas, wards and communities of Osun State to visit the designated INEC collection centres without delay. Parents should remind their children who have reached voting age. Community leaders should encourage participation. Religious organisations, market associations, youth groups and civil society organisations should amplify this civic message until no eligible voter is left behind.
Democracy thrives when citizens participate actively, peacefully and responsibly. Elections are won not by social media debates, rumours or speculation, but by lawful votes cast by registered citizens.
As Osun approaches another historic governorship election, let every eligible voter remember this simple truth:
Your Permanent Voter Card is your democratic voice. Protect it. Collect it. Use it peacefully.
